Thomas Paine on mankind.

"Man, were he not corrupted by governments, is naturally the friend of man." Rights of Man II, 1792.

  1. Thers is so much to comment about this quotation - one of my favourite - my dear friend...

  2. The longer I live, Salim, the more I believe that Paine was correct about the fundamentally social nature of man. I suspect we elevate the individual in a way that all too frequently devalues our interrelatedness and subverts our happiness.

Keep it courteous and respectful, please.
